Prior to ORange®, ophthalmologists were unable to assess the quality of vision during a cataract surgery, and would have to wait until weeks or even months after the procedure to determine the accuracy of the surgical results. However, the revolutionary technology allows Dr. Faulkner to make surgical decisions at the precise moment that can best effect visual outcomes.
The innovative ORange® device works by directing a beam of low-intensity light into the eye during the cataract surgery in Hawaii. The laser light reflects off of the patient’s retina, and sensors in the ORange® instrument analyze the reflected wave of light exiting the eye. With advances in cataract surgery like the ORange® device, Dr. Faulkner is able to analyze the real-time measurements of all the eye’s unique optical characteristics, which provides him with an accurate assessment of the eye’s focusing capabilities.
In addition to aiding Dr. Faulkner with vision procedures such as advanced cataract surgery in Honolulu, ORange® can assist Dr. Faulkner in more accurately determining factors such as intraocular lens implant accuracy and astigmatism correction.
