What is SilkPeel®?
SilkPeel® is a professional microdermabrasion system that combines exfoliation with a diamond tip, suction, and skin infusion to remove dead skin cells and debris, unclog pores, and achieve specific skin improvements. Treatment serums penetrate the freshly exfoliated skin to deliver active nutrients that can hydrate, brighten, or further buff the skin.
SilkPeel® at Aloha Laser Vision

Benefits of SilkPeel®
SilkPeel® is considered by many professionals to be the gold standard in medical grade microdermabrasion treatments. In addition to exfoliating the superficial layer of dead skin cells, debris, and oils from the skin, SilkPeel® simultaneously infuses the skin with effective skin treatment serums to achieve specific improvements in skin tone and texture. SilkPeel® sessions are often suggested for treatment of the following skin conditions:
- Dry skin
- Uneven pigmentation
- Dull skin
- Sun damage
The SilkPeel® treatment can ultimately help the skin appear smoother, healthier, brighter, and more refreshed. Patients typically find that skin care products, lotions, and serums are more effective after microdermabrasion, as the active ingredients are more readily absorbed by the skin. SilkPeel® treatments scheduled at regular intervals may be recommended to further improve and maintain results over time. A member of our team will talk with you about how many sessions may be appropriate to achieve your skin care goals.
SilkPeel® vs. HydraFacial®
When compared to the HydraFacial® system, SilkPeel® offers additional safety benefits and exfoliation advantages. While SilkPeel® performs gentle, yet effective physical microdermabrasion with a diamond tip, the HydraFacial® uses chemical exfoliants that can cause irritation and dryness for some patients. Both systems allow for specialized serums to be applied to the skin during treatment; however, only SilkPeel® uses single-use solution containers, which eliminate contamination concerns that accompany HydraFacial®’s multi-use bottles. Due to these benefits and treatment efficiency patients often choose SilkPeel® microdermabrasion over the HydraFacial® system.
The SilkPeel3® is the most advanced and dynamic SilkPeel® system available. A culmination of over ten years of experiential feedback from skin care professionals, research, and technological developments, SilkPeel3® offers the highest level of microdermabrasion treatment for the face and body. The new handpiece design offers added comfort and control to the operator, and an expanded variety of treatment heads allows for enhanced customization and consistency across different treatment areas. With the SilkPeel3®, two treatment serums can be combined in the dual solution port to address a wider range of skin issues with one treatment session.
SilkPeel® Microdermabrasion Treatment
The first step of SilkPeel® microdermabrasion is to manually cleanse the skin to remove superficial impurities and properly prepare the skin for treatment. Next, an infusion solution that targets your specific skin concerns is loaded into the SilkPeel® system. Finally, the treatment head is brought to the skin and glided evenly across the entire treatment area. The length of your session will depend upon the size of the treatment area. The vast majority of patients report that the treatment process is quick, easy, and virtually painless.
SilkPeel® Side Effects
Mild skin redness is common following treatment; however, this effect usually subsides quickly. In rare cases, patients with very sensitive or irritated skin could potentially experience discomfort, redness, and/or more serious irritation. To help prevent these undesirable effects, we evaluate patients carefully prior to SilkPeel® to ensure they are good candidates with skin that can tolerate exfoliation. Soothing topical products can be applied to the treatment area to help calm and comfort the skin. As a protective measure, it’s recommended that patients apply sunscreen and stay out of direct sunlight for a suggested period of time following treatment.
A single SilkPeel® treatment at Aloha Laser Vision costs $150; however, we do offer special pricing when a package of multiple treatments is purchased. The results of SilkPeel® last about six weeks, so it is recommended that treatment is repeated to maintain results. For some patients, an initial series of SilkPeel® treatments performed a short time apart may be suggested to achieve the greatest degree of initial skin improvements. Understand that the best treatment approach for you depends upon your unique needs and goals, so we encourage you to schedule a consultation at our practice where you can get an accurate cost estimate for your custom SilkPeel® plan. If you are interested in financing the cost of cosmetic treatments, our helpful team can explain how to apply for loans through Alphaeon Credit™ and tell you more about any lending options you are approved for.
