If you are concerned that LASIK may be painful, rest assured that with proper care, LASIK vision correction can be a virtually painless procedure. At Aloha Laser Vision your comfort during LASIK is among our top priorities, and we do all we can to provide you with effective relief from anxiety and pain at every stage of your procedure. We take every precaution to minimize, and in some cases entirely prevent, any potential discomfort. As a result, the majority of our patients report that they experience little if any pain both during and after their LASIK procedure.

Prior to starting the procedure, you will be encouraged to take a pill that will relax and calm you, ideally relieving any apprehension you may be feeling. The medication is optional; however, we find that it typically helps the LASIK procedure proceed more smoothly. When your eye surgeon is ready to commence the vision correction process, he or she will administer anesthetic eye drops that effectively numb the eyes. While you may feel mild pressure on the eyes during LASIK, the anesthetic should eliminate the possibility of any pain. Drops can be reapplied throughout the process to ensure the treatment areas remain sufficiently desensitized.

If you have more questions about LASIK, we encourage you to contact our office to schedule a consultation with one of our eye surgeons.
