At Aloha Laser Vision, our fellowship-trained ophthalmologists – Alan Faulkner, M.D. and Neda Nikpoor, M.D. – are both considered leaders in the eye care industry. Each has extensive experience in the treatment and management of cataracts, which at some point impair the vision of the majority of Americans over 65. As part of our doctors’ commitment to continuing education and staying abreast of the latest technological advances, we are pleased to announce that we now offer the ALLY® Adaptive Cataract Treatment System at our Honolulu practice.

The ALLY® system is a product of LENSAR, a top manufacturer of cataract technology. The most cutting-edge device on the market to perform femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), the ALLY® system was designed to expedite all aspects of the procedure, from detection of the cataract itself to the placement of intraocular lenses (IOLs). It can seamlessly switch between the “femtosecond” and “phacoemulsification” stages of cataract surgery (which refer respectively to the breaking apart of the cataract with a laser and the cataract’s subsequent emulsification and replacement). Its settings can be customized to combat cataracts of various thickness and locations within the nucleus, and its laser energy can create extremely precise incisions within the cornea. The device is also equipped with tools to manage astigmatism.

FDA-approved in June 2022, the ALLY® system has already been celebrated for its efficiency and accuracy. To learn more about this new system, our options for cataract treatment, or our superior technology, we encourage you to contact Aloha Laser Vision.
